From Dzodze, still growing

I didn’t have a clear path

So I made one step at a time.

I grew up in Dzodze with more curiosity than resources. I had no computer or mentor, so I learned on my own, one step at a time. That still shapes me: start where you are, stay patient, and keep showing up.

“The most important thing I learned has nothing to do with a classroom. It came from standing at a counter and paying attention to people.”

I work at the reception desk of NS Luxury Villa. That means greeting guests who arrive tired, answering the same questions patiently for the hundredth time, staying calm when someone is frustrated, and making sure every person who walks through that door feels taken seriously. I have been doing it long enough to know that real, patient presence is rarer than people think.

Before this, I served at NHIS Dzodze during national service, working in the records department (MIS) and at the public relations desk (P.R.O). I kept member records straight, guarded the details people trusted us with, and spoke for the office to everyone who walked in confused or worried. It was my job to send them out calmer and clearer than they came. That mattered to me more than the title.

I studied at Ho Technical University, earning my HND in Information and Communication Technology. But the education I am most proud of comes from watching how people actually live and work, and figuring out how to be genuinely useful to them.

My interest in technology started in childhood, long before I had the means for it. I did not own a computer. There was no money for one. And the elders around me had never been exposed to technology, so they could not understand what I kept reaching for. Nobody was against me. They simply did not know. So I stopped trying to explain, and taught myself instead, quietly, one long night at a time. That is how I became an introvert, not by choice but by circumstance. The habit of sitting alone with a problem until it finally makes sense is still how I work today.

I grew up without a father. Nobody taught me how to carry myself, how to hold a standard, or what a man is supposed to look like from the inside. I had to figure that out alone, earlier than most, and quietly. By the time I was old enough for people to expect it, I had already been living it. A man in a boy’s body, not because I chose to grow up fast, but because there was no other option.

The name Success Above Dreams is a personal standard I chose in 2018. Not a brand tagline. A private promise. Do the work. Stay consistent. Be the person you said you would be, even on the days when nobody is watching.

My Journey

Where I've been

2024 to Present

Receptionist · NS Luxury Villa

Every day, I meet people from different places, with different moods and different stories. My job is to make each of them feel at ease, whether they are checking in smoothly or standing there because something has gone wrong. I have learned that calm, clear communication is a real skill, and I have had to earn it daily.

2023 to 2024

National Service · NHIS Dzodze

Assigned to the MIS and P.R.O departments. I managed health insurance records, kept the office’s information in order, and served as the public-facing voice of the office: explaining policies, answering questions, and making a confusing process feel manageable for the people sitting across the counter.

2020 to 2023

Ho Technical University

I studied HND in Information and Communication Technology. Beyond the technical skills, university pushed me to be self-directed and to take initiative. I showed up. I did the work. I finished.

2018

Success Above Dreams · The name I chose

Not a company registration. A personal decision. I looked at the kind of person I wanted to be and wrote it down as a promise: success above the comfort of just dreaming. Then I spent years keeping it. I have carried that with me into every room since.

Proof, not talk

Moments earned, not given

None of these were applied for. They came from people who watched the effort, day after day, and decided it deserved to be noticed.
